Clock in/out problems are usually related to either an outdated version of RollKall, the phone's operating system, permission issues, or location settings. To solve this, follow the directions below.
Check your RollKall Version
ANDROID
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap Menu My apps & games.
- Select RollKall.
- Tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner.
- Tap Enable auto update.
iPhone
- Open the App Store app.
- Search for RollKall.
- Tap Update if the option is present.
RollKall Permission Issues
ANDROID
- Check RollKall Settings
- Navigate to Settings>Apps>RollKall>Permissions.
- Confirm that Camera, Location, Phone, and Storage all have permissions turned on.
- Check Phone Location Settings
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Location.
- Move slider to On.
- Tap App Permissions.
- Scroll and tap the RollKall app from the list.
- Select Allow only while using the app.
- Turn the toggle on to Use Precise Location.
- Go back to the Location page and tap Location Services.
- Turn the toggles On to allow Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning.
Wifi Scanning and Bluetooth scanning both need to be turned on.
iPhone
- Check RollKall Settings.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom where the Apps are located.
- Tap RollKall.
- Tap Location.
- Select Always. This ensures that RollKall accurately tracks your clock in/out.
Note: We DO NOT track location when the officer is not clocked in.

- Turn on/green: Motion & Fitness, Camera, Background App Refresh, and Cellular Data
- Tap Notifications.
- Ensure Allow Notifications is on/green.
- Check Phone Location Settings.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Privacy.
- Tap Location Services.
- Move the Location Services slider to on/green.
Phone Operating System Out of Date
ANDROID
- Open your device's Settings.
- Scroll down and tap About Device.
- Tap Update.
- Tap Check for Updates.
- Tap Update.
- Tap Install.
- Wait for the installation to complete.
iPhone
- Open your phone's Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Software Update.
- If it shows that there is a pending update click Download and Install.
